We are so proud to be posting information about our very first student FARMER COUNTRY MURAL! Three very dedicated and artistic students have volunteered to spend several hours during and after school in order to bring some life to the HS Cafeteria walls. Listed in no particular order are freshman, Danielle Hahn, Kyler Lockhart and Josie Mitzelfelt. The students started the mural by projecting a predrawn image of the famer onto the wall. Then they added their artistic touches and begain painting. The final product is great, they are looking forward to adding more artistic touches around the school in the months to come.

Cubist Still Life
These pictures reflect each student's interpretation of our cubist style still life. A wide variety of compositions came from the same arrangement of flowers, blocks, bottles and a lamp. Students were challenged to view and draw the same object as they moved around the arrangement. Overall, there was a nice variety of final projects.

2011 Illinois Arts Education Week Poster Contest
“The Arts Rock!”
Students had the opportunity to submit artwork to the annual Arts Education Week Poster Contest to promote this year’s Arts Education Week. They had to create a poster that depicted the theme "The Arts Rock!" to reinforce the importance of the arts in the growth and development of all students. Everyone did an awesome job and there were many creative posters submitted to the contest.

This I Believe...2010
Several students are participating in an event called "This I Believe". The Event is based on a series of essays read on NPR. In short, the students were to create an essay or work of art focusing on something they personally believe in. For some, its may depict personal challenges while for others it may reflect upon dreams and future aspirations. The statements and artwork the students have created are personal and creative. Posted are some outstanding examples of work. For more information about the This I Believe event, contact Mr. Lambert at rlambert@dist265.com

A Picture is Worth A Thousand Words
We have an wonderful group of Seniors who have been working hard to create a mural. It is a long process so stay tuned.
First we started by interviewing staff and students to see what our school community wanted to see in our 2nd mural. We had a great deal of information provided. We compiled our "data" and have come up with a great idea to present our images. Above are some pictures of our work in progress. Keep up the hardwork Seniors!!
Taking a Road Trip
Students were asked to think of places that they have visited or at least always wanted to. By recalling images they created works of art based on that place. As a challenge, they had to include one portion of a map representing their selected place. A great variety of artwork came from this project.
